Hey guys. So for the last little while I've noticed something on the base of a tube that my anemone is in. However today I decided to take pictures because my male clown fish is rubbing up against these things. I put a couple of pictures so you can see. Are these baby clownfish or something? I thought they laid eggs. Thanks for the help.

Eggs! or Larval as they like to call them. Silvery eyes appear before hatching.

Thanks guys. Anything I can do to try and make some live? I don't have another tank to move them, or really isolate them somewhere. I dont want my other fish to eat them. Any ideas?

If you don't have another tank, I'd be setting one up! This experience would be well worth the effort. In the meantime the fry can be kept in a breeding trap to keep them safe.

So here's how things went. I had a little breeding net around, so I just put it in my tank, thinking they would detach tomorrow or something. 10pm, still there, midnight, all gone.... I managed to get 7 into the net. 1 is swimming around like a nut case. The others are mostly resting. We'll see how things go for tomorrow. I'll need to get some food for them.

You do realize they will need live rotifier :) good luck. The one going crazy will probably not make it either way.

Yes you grab them at night by attracting the fry to light. The light you shine near your net, all other lights off. Scoop them up and away you go. Small tank with only an air stone (preferbly wooden as they produce a finer misty bubble in sea water) live rotifer and lots, a heavy concentration so the fry can feed easily. As the fry get bigger, a bigger sized food source. mike

Well i'll definetly get another tank set up for future hatchings. This was new to me and would love to try and raise some. Thanks for all the help.

We have live rotifers on hand.
