Added flow and skimmer

I have a question regarding skimmers and flow. I recently added a new Hydor Koralia 1 powerhead and was wondering if this new flow would have an effect on my protein skimmer. My skimmer was working fine before I added the Koralia 1, but now no foam seems to be moving up (and I've opened up the throttle more).
Anybody have any ideas?

flow will have absolutely no effect on skimming.

did you clean the pump well before adding it? the skimmer might just be reacting to the residue that comes from the new plastic powerhead.
