Wow! That's very nice Red Sea. I love end of tank photos. Where did ya get your sps and did you buy them as grown colonies or frags.

Thx Andy, it's nothing comparing your gorgeous reef.;)
Most of my corals are from ReefQuarium & some from Jonny (NAFB)
some of them were frags like the Stag, Monti's & Tricolor but most were small colonies but growing quite nicely with the exception of some full grown pieces that I lost from the power outage last month. Since I add a calcium reactor on my system things are more stable & stop dosing any more suplements except for Planqton, my Acro's been growing very nicely since then & polyp extension is lot better as well, now just if J&L ship's those Tunze Turbelle's any time soon things will be much better...:D

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
man o man..do I LOVVVVVVE purple in a tank!
Gorgeous Red Sea upon studying them closer...
the more I look at them the more I love those corals!
Tim
(I bought my first sps today)
Red Acropora I believe - NOT SURE...but it is rare hahaha
and Pink Montipora Digitata or some darn thing!! hehehe
Neat stuff...I know...the 175s are not strong enough...but I am
gonna roll the dice and hope if I put them up high enough
they will not lose colour etc...if so..I will have tried and will not again.....

What Tunzes have you decided on?

Nothing specific yet Andy...as I am likely a year away
from getting them......there is much I have to learn about sps
yet before I get them.....and.....I believe I will only need ONE
possibly as it is only a 90 gallon tank....
but I will make sure that whatever I buy it is IDEAL for
my size tank and the corals I keep at the time....best as I can
anyways....
Do you have a recommendation? If so let me know
tommorow when I see you.

Getting a pair of 6080's, with my return pump @1500GPH I'm heading to 35X tank turnover.

I have 2 6100s with a controller on my system. The 6080 is not controllable. The nice thing about having a controller is that you can adjust the amount of flow coming out of the powerhead. Personally, I had to throttle mine down slightly. It was blowing the sand around in a few places. The controller also lets you pulse the flow coming out of the powerheads and shut down for feeding. Reduced flow can also be programmed for night time as well. With the 6080, you get 100% flow all the time in a straight flow pattern. Have you visited the Tunze Forum on Reef Central. As for the Tunze stream pumps, they are exceptional (so far). I've had mine running for about a month now without a problem. I have noticed positive results in my tank.

Andy, I know exactly what you mean about the 6100s you definitely can't beat them, but the $475.00 for each that just over thousand bucks for 2 of them it's little out of my budget at this time, where the 6080s are half of that.

What size tank do you have? I believe Doug Lowey has 2 of the 6080s on his 180. What substrate are you using?

Can the 6080s be run on a wavemaker?

Andy, my tank is 150G. 60x24x24 & using Southdown play sand 3" deep, with the amount of rocks I have just over 300 pounds I don't think my sand will shift around too much, hopefully...
Kevin, the Turbelle 6060's & 6080's are just straight powerheads & can't be used on wave maker they not design to turn on & off multiple times a day, I may have to put a kill switch to turn them off during feeding but thats about it.

Mine is 72L--24W--30H. The main current is generated by the 6080 pumps only. I dont turn them off for feeding. The only time they are off, is for their monthy water/vinegar soak.
I dont have front sandbed, so cant comment on that.
