I'm not so sure about it being a toadstool, which is what I have, and it looks more like this...

Maybe a PomPom Xenia the branched ends of the tentacles suggest something other than a toadstool.
Was that a hitchhiker, or a purchase?

Corals are a continuously regenerating colony. I don't think the term juvenile applies in the case of colonial organisms.

Looks similar, but not quite the same as my Pom-pom Xenia (that's what it was sold to me as)
Sorry for the crappy pic, couldn't get a proper focus.

I do have a devils claw in my tank so that would make sense, how long does it take to grow?

that all depends on lighting, water conditions, ..all that stuff.
ive had mine for 4 years? and the tank it was in then it droped little guys like crazy id say for the little ones to get 5"-6" it took about 2-3 months,
in this pic you can see them bottom center a little off to the right.

it looks like a toadstool.
my kenya tree has another small one right beside it that seemingly is connected along the base. my guess is that yours did the same.
(btw, is that your guitar in your avatar?)
