View Full Version : NEW SHIPMENT: Australian corals to arrive... with CITES

Hi all,

We are expecting our first TRIAL shipment of corals from Australia to arrive tomorrow night.

Should be an interesting shipment as this would be the very first time we would see it ourselves since exportation from that region had been closed for few years. We would be getting a very small trial shipment to see how they come.

If the Montipora makes it, then we'll be safe to order Acropora shortly after. I heard there's some CRAZY acropora there in ORANGE colors.

Duncans (2 varieties with small & bigger polyps)
A. lordhowensis
Montipora
Soft corals
Lps

are some example of what's expected to arrive. once we know it is safe to import without the risks of high mortality, we will be placing a bigger order... so stay tuned.

Duncans are LPS and they come in the beautiful original colour of grey.
Very exciting, all the people on RC are paying high dollars for them so they must be cooool.

I want some too :(

I'll be there :(

Prices for Duncan corals have dropped dramatically in the States....some you can get for US$25 per polyp!! I like That concept....
Apparently the Aussie guvment have relax their export of Corals after a few years of hiatus....

you lost me ....what do you mean by 3rd tier? are you referring to them being "common" in Australia?

if there was ever a 3rd tier coral, i'd say that award must go to GSP, mushrooms and sand polyps.......duncans are very unique...intense colour morphs, explosive growth, amazing look and feel (ie. "whiskers").

Ducans are very common in Australia.....bread and butter corals... because it is native to that location.
If you are ever in Asia you'll find FireCrackers (Giant Sun Coral) that are dirt cheap....

If you are ever in Asia you'll find FireCrackers (Giant Sun Coral) that are dirt cheap....

they're also fairly common in certain areas of Indonesia and can be found in abundance much farther north in the South China Sea (see here (http://whelk.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/html/101-200/Species%20pages/135.htm))

in any case, I won't call it a 3rd tier coral......no way!

Jensen post pics asap when they get in!!! ...there's a good chance I can't make it due to some last minute packing for my trip (I fly out this Saturday!! woot!!!)

Paul....if you can, grab me a single polyp (as per the "group order")...i'll hook you up with the $$ when I get back....ANY colour will do, preferably the KILLER ONES! haha :) Terima Kasih berbanyak-Banyak, bro!!!!
