I have an 8 Gal Biocube new in the box and would love to have Seahorses.

Is it feasable to set this up as a seahorse tank?

If yes, got some advice on what to put in it? any mods to the filtration? etc....

And if not, what should the min size tank be?

Thanks in advance.

It would be too small. Sea Horses prefer something with height. Perhaps the dwarfs would be fine in the 8 biocube. If you find some please let me know, I'd like to put some in my 14 biocube.
Check out http://www.seahorse.org/ for more information or search this sight.

An eight gallon BioCube is too small for most species of horses except for Dwarf seahorses. You can keep quite a few pairs of those little fellows in an eight gallon, in fact you could probably keep 10 mated pairs of Dwarves in an 8 gallon. As for the filtration, I'm not that familiar with BioCube, Nano Cube type filtration systems, so another member may have to chime in here.

From what I did see of someone else's set-up, the return flow was far too strong and the poor juvenile's that were in there were being blown all over the place, so I'm sure that you will have to turn the flow down to nothing more than a trickle. Also, you may have to screen the intake to the filter or diffuse the current there so that a Dwarf doesn't get stuck up against it. Seahorses are not strong swimmers and tank raised will tend to go "with the flow".....so to speak.

So, I wouldn't consider this tank for anything more than Dwarves that would be shameful and cruel.

Thank you for the advice.

I'd rather not get dwarves, so I'll look into getting another tank for the seahorses and use the 8 Gallon Bio-cube for....?

Any ideas??
