So I'm very new at everything here... and I'm getting ready to put some coral in my tank. I'm going to BC in a few days and I know that there is a lot of coral on the coast... I was thinking about cutting a little piece of one off and bringing it home to put in my tank. Is this a bad/stupid/other idea? Let me know.

the waters off the coast of bc are much colder than your aquarium. :)

Unless you are thinking of keeping a species aquarium that is native to the Pacific Northwest, then it might be a consideration.
It seems like a helluva drive to the LFS for livestock, since I don't believe you will find any local dealers in Edmonton that routinely carry this type of livegoods.

and in the case of colder water aquariums, everything slows down. including your cycle.
imo its much easier to keep a warm water aquarium than a cold water aquarium. :)

Better idea would be to stop at J&L and get your frags there, unless you were planning on cutting the frags out of Ron's tank when he was online. :giggle:
