I'm using an old beckett & housing to modify my skimmer to a beckett skimmer , however water gets in and fills the housing.
how can i fix it????

The beckett either has to be re-aligned or the whole unit has to be raised a bit.

Does the water flood the beckett so it will not function? If it fills the chamber but doesn't cover the air intake holes it's functioning properly.

It floods the unit until it don't function. Its already above the skimmer. I'll take it apart make sure it looks o.k

If it's flooding that badly....

1 - there could be an obstruction inside the beckett blocking flow

2 - the pump powering it is too small

3 - the beckett is not being held properly. The ends need to be seated so water does not flow out around the input and output. Conversely i've seen some beckett's that were pressed into a chamber so tightly they bowed apart slightly so water was spraying everywhere.

I clean the beckett found 2 small shells inside however when i hooked it up to the skimmer there was no bubbles. 2 days of plumbing and configuring and it still won't work for me . All the messing around with the tank the last 2 days cost me 2 fish which died my six line and my yellow tang .
Well I reconfigured the plumbing today again and went with a kent venturi I had; it currently working well I'll see what kind of foam production i get.
Tomorrow I will be getting those fish out which happen to be at the very back of the reef under the eggcrate (of course!!!)
Give me a chance to redecorate.
As for the beckett maybe I'll just buy a aerofoamer later.

Hey Nigel

Is there a chance you're got the beckett in upside down??

the larger end should be at the bottom of the chamber.

Can't go in upside down won't fit into fitting. I used a mag 12 the conclusion i came was that maybe my plumbing reduced the water flow just enough to prevent it from working properly.
The set up pump water from the main tank and up to the beckett.
Don't know why i got no bubbles after i cleaned it. I used a jet spray from a garden hose .

Got the dead fish out and redecorated; Its amazing the amount of time you can spend working on a reef tank. I'm starting to be inspired to work on that beckett again, but not now!!!
