They are amazing fish.. But like all Triggers Very agressive.. will just about kill any other smaller fish you have and eat them.. as well they will feed on Crustations ( shrimp, snails ) so on ...

They are a great addtions to Fish only tanks with larger fish!

big eaters, also means big poopers. Fish only tanks, unless you have that kind of money to feed them Angels and Butterflies.:D

Opted not for the trigger, very cool fish though ! Instead I came home with a green bahama star and I think it might be a juv racoon butterfly. Even through both pets might not be on the high scale of exciting , I find myself totally watching the star and i'm amazed at how much ground they cover the other adds alot of color which I like too ! Thanks for the info on the trig but I guess he's not for me right now . Thanks again Kevin.

Sorry Scott , no pictures yet but I,m working on it . As a matter of fact I found a site that told they come in three different colors just by putting in bahama star. If I figure out how to put a pic ,Ill do it asap. Kevin

Mapleleaf, NOTHING WRONG with fish only tank....
I just saw a fish only the other day with absolutely gorgeous
trigger in it! My friend up in Sudbury has a REEF SAFE trigger
in his tank right now....The guy has had it in his reef for a while and NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM....It is not a common trigger..at least I had not seen them before....The name of the store is
PETER'S REEF POND if you wish to inquire further.....

I cannot remember the name of the trigger but it was very
interesting how he had it IN THE REEF and doing WELL....

I also kept a blue nigel trigger in a reef for years....that is
until I finally found out where my snails an crabs were disappearign too hahahah I caught the little devil spitting
one out one day! THAT WAS IT FOR THE TRIGGER!....sold him verrrry fast....

BUT...I know how you feel they are a gorgeous fish no doubt.
Some of the more gorgeous star fish that I WANT to keep I CANNOT due to not reef safe ...so...hey..you can always
set up another tank and go purely reef in it...or just continue
down the path you are on and stock up with gorrrrgeous angels
that true reef tanks really cannot have...

My rec is the EMPEROR when your tank is matured and verrrry good water conditions etc....

Of course the blue face is a very nice fish also....

Good luck!
Tim

I keep trying to onvince my better half I need a nice 6' tank for the wall down stairs. She hasn't bought that one yet , so therefore neither have I , but if I do it will definitely be reef. My starfish is still cover every corner of the tank and everybody thinks he's so cool ! I fed him a couple of times he excepts frozen scollop and lobster , odd he likes the same foods I do! I have a question though if some one could help me out! How often should I feed him and how big a portion should he be given ? He's only about 3" across from leg to leg and I don't want to over feed him as I dont want to kill him with kindness !TIA , Kevin
