Just came back from a swap. I picked this up. An i.d would be.. I know. I forgot. Anyhow, when I was putting in my tank, the entire frag broke off from the substrate. Does this have to glued to a piece of substrate? Or can it thrive by wedging it a rock? ... Should I run to the store and grab some s.g. gel.. just ran out.

It will grow and encrust on anything.
That being said, I would still go out and get some superglue gel and stick it something, like a small rock or a frag plug ... that way you can decide where to keep it instead of it just encrusting somewhere and being permanent.

And yes, that is an orange montipora digitata.

thanks for the info! the orange moni digi is doing awesome. I glued it to small piece of rock. it was top heavy and the strong current in the tank made it difficult to station. After glue and epoxy I am back in business. Thanks for the info. I freaked there for a min. hehe :)

good stuff, They're fragile!! I snapped mine while cleaning and it grew back in about a month. They are fast growers, and make a great frag.

I had to same problem.. I found a hole in the live rock. 3mths later it is attach it self to the rock and doing fine...Just watch the your fish don't knock it out of the hole and falls behind your rock
