I got this Tang from someone about 6 months ago now. It was in very poor water conditions and in a 54 gal tank. I am not sure what is wrong with him. Now that I have a camera I thought I'd show and ask your opinions. I thought it may be something like Lateral Line disease. Originally the patches stretched right down his lateral line. They have since receeded quite abit in the last 6 months. Any ideas?

Wild guess....perhaps he was in a fight months ago and
got mangled and these are scars that are healing which is
why there is LESS MARKS now then when you got him?
Marks could be from swimming quicklyinto hiding area and
hitting rocks etc?
Willlllllldddddddd guess heheheh

Could be HLLE. I've seen a few examples of advanced lateral line erosion that looked similar.

I seem to agree with Sohoal Tang, Your tang likely got hurt by crashing into some rock and your just watching its wound heal. I had that happen to one of my fish a few years back and that photo seems somewhat similar to what i remember.

More than lilkely, crashing into rocks, less likey advanced HLLE or even advanced hole in the head, ( I don't have a technical name for that one)
