At the mall today and spent some time in the PJ's while my wife went shopping. I noticed that thay had a new Hagen T5HO display.

The guy in the store didn't have much info on them since they had just arrived last week, but was pretty impressive. They had a line of strip lights 24", 36" and 48". also had ballast kits and individual reflectors for all three sizes.

Anyone have any feedback on these units or are they pretty new?

The 36" dual T5HO fixture was going for 139.

I haven't held one yet but they look average in the catalogue pictures. I'll be surprised if more box stores don't grab these for store tanks because Hagen gives 25% off wholesale for in store use. I've seen their new T5HO ballasts and I hate the switch on them. Both of them look to be a good intro unit but I don't know if I'd buy it over other available units.

I think these are the regular T5's not high output units. I have one of the normal output T5's for my actinic....got if from NAFB for $65 (Dual 36" Coralife)

Thinking of upgrading to a pair or two of VHO or T5HO's when these caught my eye

u r right...my mistake. The 36" with 2x21W would not qualify for HO. Anybody ever order these things on ebay. How does one deal with shipping customs etc ?

I've heard good things about these lights but I've never seen them. The menagerie is supposed to be getting some over the next few weeks and i think I'm going to buy some. How do they look? are they nice and streamlined looking?

Look pretty clean. I'm thinking of the 36" retro's for my 65 as an upgrade to my coralife NO's, but I haven't had much feedback on them yet. The only place I've seen them is at the PJ's at Pickering Town

I saw TEK T5HO 36" Retrokit for USD $100.00 or $115.00 couple of weeks ago in Dallas, US. Are they any good, I might go back there soon.

Ryan at where's the reef sells the Tek T5HO retro kit. I can't remember the price off hand. The Tek system looks ok but I'd piece together a kit before buying that one. The ballast isn't the best and there isn't enough wire in the kit.
