lost control and had some impulse purchases today

picked up 5 of these guys, they were tagged bi-colour chromis but when i got home and did some research they look similar to blue devil damsels except that they have yellow fins rather than orange...these guys turn black and blue/purple quit often and are pretty neat to watch, they look nice schooling with my chromis. ID confirmation please

Although i don't need an ID for this fish, i just wanted to know how fast they grow so i know approximately how long i can keep him for...but man does he have some nice colours

On a side note i saw a mystery wrasse in person today and i'm not sure what all the hype is about in the US for them, they look ok but not worth the $200 tag that they come with, here they were priced at $200 CDN

1st appears to be a:
Blue & Gold Damsel - Pomacentrus coelestis (http://www.marinedepotlive.com/blue---gold-damsel---pomacentrus-coelestis-fish--damsels.html)

Pretty - but a Damsel none the less (aggressive buggers)...

General Notes: Pomacentrus coelestis, Jordan & Starks 1901, one of the Neon Damsels. This is a feisty damselfish species, best kept as the only Damsel type in a tank, and allowing a good fifteen gallons plus per specimen. http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/marinedepotlive_1921_5342429

The Wrasse looks to be a:
Checkerboard Wrasse ~ (http://www.marinedepotlive.com/marble---hort-wrasse---halichoeres-hortulanus-fish--wrasses.html)Halichoeres hortulanus (http://www.marinedepotlive.com/marble---hort-wrasse---halichoeres-hortulanus-fish--wrasses.html)

...Your 75Gal should be ok - watch for jumping...

Mystery Wrasses are nice - however, I wouldn't consider it being worth $200 for me either...especially as they will prey on cleaner shrimp, blood shrimp, etc....lol
Expensive meals - but a stunning fish- especially when full size ~ 5"

thanks AJ, i figure the checkerboard wrasse can stay for a year or so, not really a big fan of having a 30cm wrasse in my tank eating up my chromis :D

and as for the damselfish, it does look similar, although my fish are shaped more like a torpedo rather than a damsel/chromis body, they look pretty cool though, i'll watch out for any aggression since i wouldn't want anything to ruin my peaceful tank

the mystery wrasse was already sold when i got there, beside it was a flame wrasse which i thought looked nicer

but my fave wrasse is still the social fairy wrasse followed by either blue flasher fairy wrasse or McCosker's flasher wrasse

but i've never seen any of those locally

LOL -

Very close. At least it was a Pomacentrus sp.

Not too bad of an ID! :)

There are many, many Damsels - and only a couple of Chromis. As in - Damsel = | Chromis =

I only wish I had the cash - or ability to get these...
