i don't think you have to worry about clowns being eaten(mushrooms are related to anemones)

I found this infor mation from google :(

" These are known as 'elephant ears' and are known to 'eat' fish! This is one mushroom anemone I would not recommend. I have one and have not been able to keep any gobies or blennies in the same tank, as they will eventually meet their fate as food for these large mushrooms, due to their habit of 'resting' on corals. Elephant ear mushroom anemones have a potent sting, which stuns the fish, and then they just roll up around it, trapping the fish so they can slowly digest it. "

Read the rest of that article - it explains how to ID them.

Also - once you found that article - it directly references the genus Amplexidiscus - as being the one to worry about.

Another Google of that "Amplexidiscus" will give you many articles with images:

These are the ones to watch out for:

From the photos you've posted - hard to tell.

I would guess either Rhodactis sp. or Discosoma sp.

You would need to provide macro shots showing close-ups of the oral disk area. Providing close-up (macro) shots allows the ability to differentiate between the many like species.

I've given you numerous pics in order to compare to what you have - so that's up to you.

From what I can see - I don't think it is...however, I'm not saying 100% in any way.

Like I said = review the links I've provided - look at the pics - and specifically look for:

...The largest mushroom anemones are from the genus Amplexidiscus, which have small tentacles spread out over their discs, and can reach a diameter of up to twelve inches. These are known as 'elephant ears' and are known to 'eat' fish! ...

^^From the initial article that you read from - as I linked to (http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/saltwater/Ziegler05.html).

Mushrooms and Zoanthids are kinds of anemones - but this is definitely a what is considered a "mushroom".
