Does anyone have a detail instruction of how to set the system up please?
I bought one online but the instruction I got online is too simple. I have got the one that costs around US$199 model and am at a lost of how to set it up.
Thank you.

When Aquasafe ships the unit to you, they send you an email with a link to the instructions. When you print them out, its like 9 pages and goes through it step by step. I've set one up before this one, but still found the instructions simple to understand if you have never put in a unit before. There's even pictures to show you what to do.

Their email is aquasafe@uniserve.com, if you ask them they will send you the link for the instructions again.

Do a search here - as you will need to make changes to the unit in order for it to be safe for your tank.

Remove the Taste Polisher / Remount the DI / etc.

If you're not handy - you will need to solicit the assistance of someone who has done it before.

AJ, does the taste polisher do any harm?

I teed off my taste polisher, when making aquarium water it bypass's the polisher then when I make drinking water it goes through the polisher. The polisher actually adds some tds back to the water to add flavor to it.

It's filled with Acid-Washed Coconut Shells - and ADDS TDS for taste...so yes.

Also - most of the units I've seen from them are the "6-Stage" ones - and they are plumbed just wrong.

Also - statements from any company like:

The clear canisters on pre-filters is a sales gimmick designed to sell more filters. Pre-filters 2+3 are carbon and you can see absolutely nothing. Pre-filter #1 is a poly sedimentary filter designed to catch dirt. It can get REAL DIRTY and look like a chocolate ice-cream cone and be working fine. A filthy sedimentary filter tells you nothing and only causes people to say "change it" when it is still perfectly OK. In fact, if the water comes out of the 3 pre-filters, it is ready for the RO. We have NEVER had a report of clogged pre-filter....from one of their eBay ads...just scares me at how little they know about what they are selling. Funny how they use "color change" DI resin, and THAT's supposed to be ok - but color change of the sediment isn't??

Ok - sure... and every other manufacturer, including the companies that MAKE THE ACTUAL FILTER MEDIA all say differently.

Also - 5-micron sediment filters & GAC (granular activated carbon) filters are nearly useless, and will allow impurities including Chloramine/Chlorine to reach the TFC Membrane (RO) - which will destroy it almost instantly...

Yet another 'claim' -

100 GPD membranes are good for 5 years...nope - especially if chlorine has reached it.

Did you buy a TDS meter with it?
It's kinda fun to test the water going into it, then test the water, as it comes out of each stage cleaner, untill the "for Taste" stage where TDS jumps up from zero to 20 or so. :)

Just take the last "For Taste stage" off for now, and run it like they sent it, and it should give you zero TDS. Once you see how it works, and get comfortable with it, you can modify/remount it like AJ said. No big rush.

You can upgrade your filters too when you see your TDS start to rise.A TDS is around $25 - $30
In my case, the water in my tap is 162. Coming out of the RODi section it's 15, and after the Last one (DI) it is 1. If it gets above 4 or so I look at getting some new filters. My RO is Really old. I've never replaced it yet. (my bad)

Fallow all the instructions EXCEPT the part about NOT using teflon tape on the treaded areas.

Always use tape.I tried it their way first and it had leeks everywhere.

They are an excellent unit with one bad instruction.

If you can, mount the DI unit vertically with the RO water entering from the bottom and the DI leaving at the top; this helps make sure there's decent contact between the RO water and the DI resin. Mounted horizontally, there's a better chance for the water to form a channel from one end to the other, quickly exhausting the beads it does touch, and completely missing the rest.

You should also consider picking up some tees (RO water for you, DI for the tank) and some ball valves. I have a ball valve on the feed line so I can shut off the filter without shutting off the cold water to the kitchen sink. It causes less friction in the house when I change filters ;) Same deal when I change the DI resin.

I haven't been able to set it up yet. I am looking for a adaptor for the faucet in the laundry room as I do not want to pierce the water pipe. Home Depot doesn't sell any in Toronto.

I finally made my first R/o D/i water tonight. Reading from tap water was around 170, the R/O water was zero. I am rather pleased with that.
It took me one and a half hours to make 5 gallons of water.
One more question: Do I have to empty the water in the system afterwards please?

I don't empty my water....next time I start it up I let it run 3-5 minutes down the drain.

If I were you I would not use the first batch of water you have made.
Pitch that and get working on the next batch. If you plan on using the system in and off, keep the water in the system. Dont let the filters dry out :)
