Just so you know the poll is multiple choice.. ie. pick more than one date if more than one is acceptable to you.
Well we are now trying to come up with a date that will work well for most involved. As it stands right now we are thinking either the evening of Tuesday the 23rd or the 30th.
Any preferences either way?
Meeting will be at my place in St Catharines.

So, what exactly is this meeting? Is this MAST? Is there a Toronto caravan? Is it Niagra and region only?
Inquiring minds want to know.

This is not MAST and is in no way associated with them at this juncture other than the fact that some of us also belong to MAST.
This is intended to be a spot for Niagara region people to meet, talk, exchange frags and other equipment etc. It is going to be modeled after the URS (Upstate Reef Socitey) meetings. It is very informal. Someone agrees to host it, they provide the spot to meet and the tank to drool over. If they wish to (ussualy at the URS meetings i have been to) the Host/Hostess provides some chips, fingerfoods etc, maybe some juice or pop. Those that come to the meeting are welcome to bring something if they want to but there is no obligation. Those that would prefer to enjoy a few adult beerverages bring their own.
The meeting is generally a big meet and greet, talk to old friends maybe make some new ones, get help with problems you may be having that others have experienced. The host usually talks very briefly about their tank set up and maintenance practices if they are up for it... if not then not
Frags (and other stuff) trades are usually worked out before hand by those that have stuff to trade and the meeting is just a place to do so. The URS ussualy start a frag trading list in their forum sometime before the meeting (having said that i will start one when i am done with this). Some people will bring a few extra frags in hopes of finding something else.
As i said the NRS is hopefully going to become somewhere for those in the niagara region to meet. However anyone from ANYWHERE that wants to attend is more than welcome. Its only intended to try to get a stonger base of reefing people in this area as i know there are many that can't find the time or method to drive to toronto or other clubs. I believe there may be a few members coming up from the URS and hopefully some of the people we know up toronto way may decide to venture down this way too.
As has been mentioned the first meeting will be at my house in St Catharines. Date is yet to be finalized. Those that come will have to put up with my semi finished, very rustic, slightly messy bsmt That is where the fish room is and as there are and will be for some time to come renovations going on in the house. Just got it in Dec and there is much to do:D
So if you can stand a semi finished, rustic, slightly messy bsmt in order to see a few tanks, and talk to other hobbiest, then by all means you are welcome to come.

Speaking as a member of the aforementioned Upstate Reef Society, I can highly recommend having a get-together of reefkeepers. Not only is it great to see other reef aquariums in person and share some conversation regarding something you enjoy- frag trading can be an inexpensive and ecologically friendly method to expand your collection of livestock. Good idea, Scott!

No promises yet- I'm not sure if any others in the URS are aware this is being planned...plus, we have a reef aquarium project at our zoo that's been taking up many of our spare moments. I am curious as to what different kinds of corals are being grown in Ontario.

Well as for now its going to be some time in the last week of September. I figure i'll wait till around the last week of august to see what day most have a preference for, and if that day is OK with myself, my wife, and Mitch.
I will post the final day as soon as that is figured out.
Glad to hear you will be coming.
