I got the aquasafe system and wonder where I should clamp the feed water unit. Attached the pic under the sink. Should I clamp the upper or the lower of the cold water pipe (different width)? Also, can someone verify if the feed water unit should be setup like the first pic? Where the white plastic ring goes? Thanks.,...

I would place the saddle piercing valve on the lower copper feed line. If the upper copper feed line is soldered into the faucet you'll have a difficult time sealing the hole if you ever remove the SPV. As for the plastic ferrel I'm not sure. I used the metal one myself. I have the same unit.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Also, when you said the metal ferrel, is it same as the metal ring on the red tube(please take a look at the pic)? I wonder I really need the white plastic ring.

As far as the needle clamp goes i didn't trust it they can leak. I went to home depot and for a couple of $$ got a brass shut off valve for 1/4" tubing. Works great, it has compression fittings no soldering involved.

Yes they're both ferrels for different types of tubing. I didn't use the plastic one.

i would not recommend using the saddle valve as they will start to leak after turning them on and off a few times (filter changes) and put in a (dahl) angled r19 valve gives you a 3/8" dia hole and will make your water faster as far as the ferrel use the brass one as the plastic will sometimes slip and allow the line to blow off
