Okay, i have obviously picked up some sort of hitchhiker from a recent addition. They are white threads, with what appear to be tines for snagging food at the ends of threads, anchored to my rock, plant, just about anything in the tank, even one of my hermits have a few on its shell. The threads just seem to sway in the current, then retract in a jerking motion. There arent many, I'd say less than 50, but they are multiplying. Any idea what they are, and how to get rid of them would be much appreciated.

I'm sorry I dont have a camera, or I'd post a pic.

Thanks for any help.

Try searching for spaghetti worms. It sounds like what you are describing. Try this link:

I have just noticed a few of these myself, but so far just on my rocks. They do not look like the spaghetti worms in the below article. I thought they were probably some kind of plant. Mine are about 3/4" long and have one or two 1/4" branches.

Ha!! I will concede that I have a few Spagetti Worms. Are they something I should be worried about? If so, what would be the best plan of attack?

Unfortunately, the snail and benthic jellyfish suggestions didnt pan out after researching both.

So please keep those suggested possiblities comming, I'm finding this quest for knowledge most enjoyable. :hurray: :hurray:

Thnx to those who have already chimmed in. Most appreciated.

Agreed! They are filter feeders and not to worry. I think you will find them on most live rock.
