I don't have the foggiest idea what this thing may be. The fluff on it is silky smooth and about 3/4 inches tall. The entire body is about 1 1/2 inches long and 3/8 inches wide. I have put it inside a critter contained in the sump for now. Not sure what it is/was/will be.

Looks a lot like the foot and byssal threads off one of your clams. I've seen it before in my tank. It doesn't seem alive does it?

Andy, I think you are a genius. That is exactly what it is. I knew I had seen something like it before but couldn't remember where. It doesn't seem to be alive but I just wanted to be sure.

As of this moment they are all fine, or at least they appear to be. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I accidentally tore my clams foot out couple months back, though it was goign to die. I kept it upward mounted between two rocks, it seems to have grown another foot as its mounted itself again and doing well. Took about a month of setign it upright every morning.
