I have 2 percs and would like to eventually get a BTA. Just curious to see how many peoples percs actually started hosting their anemones.

Mine show no interest in my GBTA.

Mine were tank raised and didn't show any interest in hosting in anything Until they hit about 1 year mark all of a sudden one started hosting then the other followed a few days after. Now they can't seem to get enough of the BTA, when it split they followed it around and hosted in the clones.

My clown has taken to my large leather colonies. Mind you, she has also never seen an anenome in my tank.

I have three anemone but none are BTA. After beating up my goniopora, my clown has decided to host in my feather dusters.

I moved the rock my bta was on to the area my clowns hung out. They took to the anemone and thankfully the anemone didn't move.

Here is a link to the preferred anemonae for clownfish. However clown fish haven't read this article and tend to make up their own minds.:bblink:

As you can see by my pic, my clowns love my BTA. It was about 8 weeks in the tank before they decided to move in. It was a gradual move, they would only stay during the day and go back to the top of the tank for the night.

Now they are never appart!!

Clownfish, or anemonefish, do NOT host an anemone. The anemone is the host and the clownfish is the guest. The correct term is cohabitate. They share a symbiotic relationship.

This is truly a miracle no sooner did I vote no then did one of my sunrise clowns start hosting in my RBTA! I couldn't be happier the anemone looks a little stressed but im guessing in a day or 2 it will go back to looking like normal (no bubbles).

Wow im so happy. I took a couple pics, I'll post a few if they turned out half decent.

FYI...the "Bubbles" on the Anemones, especially BTA's, usually lose the Bubble Tip "swelling" after a short while. The tips are going to look like any ordinary long sweeping tentacles...you might find some "swelling" but not a lot ... once in awhile...

My tank raised never hosted anemone, they lived together for more than a year and still showing no interests. However, my saddle hosts BTA starting from the second days in the tank.

I disagree, depends on the specific anemone and other things - my RBTA has bubble tips and has been in my tank for 2.5 years. It first settled on the bottom and lost the bubbles, later moved upward in the tank and has them and kept them.

There is no guarantee that if it has the bubble tips that they will stay or that all BTA’s lose the bubble tips over time.

My percs took my BTA the very day i go it, it has since split and the percs went back and forth with both of them. it was the first time my BTA moved as the split found a happy spot and stayed. The original moved to the back of the tank, into some rock (got a little worried), back out and right beside it's split LOL. The BTA found it's better half and is happy again LOL and the percs still go both of them and sleep in them. The beautiful Tomato Clown i previously had took to it's bubble tip the very night as well as i'd wake up in the morning only to it's head peeking out. The tomato went back to store after a couple months when we went back to the original plan of having 'Nemos' for the nephews, that bubble went in the garbage when my GF thought it was dead, it was really only taking a #2. She'll never hear the end of it :)
