Hi,

This plant, that I believe to be an algae, looked great a few months ago when it first showed up, but it is now trying it’s best to take over my tank.

The only fishes in the tank are a percula clown and a cleaner shrimp (not much competition to the fauna in the tank).

Can someone please identify this plant and give some suggestions as to what would eat it (keep it’s growth under control).

Thanks!

So I decided to get off my butt and look around myself.

My algae is a common Caulerpaceae.

I hope to get a small tang that should like it.

Yep, it is a pretty common calerpa species, tangs will love it (to the point of eating all of it), so if you like it, I suggest just ripping out the excess as it grows and try to sell to your LFS or just discard it.

If it is growing well, there is a source of nutrients in your tank for it (other than just light) - it is a great nutrient export macro (watch for going asexual), but as long as it is trimmed regularily and not crowded, should not be an issue.
