Purple Hair???

Hi guys, I need some help here. Does anyone know what are these purple hairy things beside my mushroom (circled in red in my picture)? They started to develop around a month ago, and are getting bigger! Do I need to remove them? Please help... :thanxU:

I cant tell what it is, it looks like coraline algae to me... It doesnt look like anything bad that I know of. If it is soft it may be a sponge. If it has hairs on it it could be a thing I think is called something like "Formarian".
It could even be the begginnings of a new mushroom.

I'm gonna go with a form of coralline as well. Without a more focused shot a definite i.d. may not be possible.

its coralline algae. it does that in my tank tooo it starts too grow like a cap.

Oh.. may be I should try to remove them when I do my water change next time, thx!

why remove? when i say cap i mean a monti cap..
