I apologize for the lack of coral knowledge, we happened to save this lil guy from a guy who did not have suff. light to keep any kind of coral. Since this tank has house him, hes grown 3 more branches(?) and seems to be enjoying life.
pretty sure it's a hammer, but like i said, i'm still learning coral species.

You know your coral.
It's a branching hammer and an excellent beginner coral.
There are a great deal of websites where you can get some info on corals, but the first one that came to me is here: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?pcatid=597
Make sure you compare notes of requirements from other websites when doing research since sometimes you'll get conflicting opinions, but it is a good general starting page.

Come to think of it, it could possibly be a branching frogspawn because I can't see the tips quite clearly since it's a little deflated and the lighting is throwing it off a bit. More than likely I still think it's a hammer.

I think it looks like a frogspawn, but then, I've never had a hammer before. It does look like my frogspawn however.
