i noticed the other day that a small hammer coral i had in my sand bed was pulled under a rock so i pulled it out only to find that it had been picked clean by something the only thing i have seen in my tank is a pistol shrimp, but i'm told pistol shrimp dont eat live stock! i made a trap sort of like a lobster trap with a water bottel, the only thing i caught was my peppermint shrimp does anyone know what might be eating my stuff.?....also i found my annemy crab had also been killed and just the shell was left in the bottom of the tank and a clown goby has also dissipeared!!!

s the pistol shrimp in the place where the hammer was eaten, i did catch a glimps of crab which i can only describe as a fiddler crab which i know are fres w so i'm still confused i have had the trap in for 2 days now and the only things drawn to it were pods, misis, bristle worms and my pep shrimp, should i just keep trying? i am kinda worried that the pep might be in there when the mantis decides to go an and kill him too !

Why not catch your peppermint shrimp and place him in containment, then continue to fish on for the mystery fish. If you have no refugium, you can drop him into a hang-in-the-tank breeder box for a while.

Are you sure your crab died and not just shed its skin?

WHERES JOHNNY.
all kidding aside, your crab may have shed. As for the eaten live stock, pistols wouldnt do it but a crazy and fun mantis would really love a live diet like that.
