I'm looking at getting the Coralife 72" AquaLight Pro Metal Halide Fixture - 3 x 250W it uses HQI DE so taht would mean when the coralife bulbs go i can get say hamilton/phoniex bulbs instead for it right?any pros and cons of this fixture? manily experience with it as well... it will be for my 180 gallon 72x24x24. I was going to get another pendant for MH lighting to add to my existing one that i have but since it will be hard to hang where it will be placed hence why i am looking at the fixture. Thanks

I have the 150W unit over my 120 and i love it. In my opinion it is plenty of light. It runs quite cool and the ballast are nice and small and can be hiden well.
The only issue i have had with mine in 1.5 years i have been running it is one of the moonlights must have a loose wire or somthing becasue it needs a little jiggle to turn it on somtimes. I rarley use the moonlights so it does not bother me. The coralife bulbs are fine from a growth standpoint, but they were a bit yellow for my taste. I switched them out with some Icecap bullbs (10K) and i love the nice white color it gives me when the atinics are turned on.
I would highly recommend the hanging kit. It makes accessing the tank super easy. I would also NOT recommend the coralfe power center for this light. In theory it is awsome, but my timers broke after about 4 months. I have also read some other bad thing online about them.

here are som pics of my tank if you want to see.

Awesome thanks for the mini review Balkos! Tank looking great!

Just one more question... how are SPS doing with the 175w or would 250w be too much? I'm probably going to go with a mixed tank but will not be keeping a lot of SPS maybe a couple of them at most.

Thanks again!
