Igot my Iwasaki 250 watt 6500 k up and running but I don't think I like the colour. It's pretty yellow.
I can only run Iwasakis. Will a higher kelvin rating give me a more pleasing colour?

Why can you only run Iwaki's on your tank?

Iwasaki's are considered mercury vapour (MV), but can be run on metal halide(MH) ballasts. Most common coil (non-electronic)ballasts are either MH or MH/MV. So unless you have an electronic "tuned" ballast that will only fire MV, you should be able to run any kelvin lamp on that ballast (ie 6500 K,10 000k 12 000k).

Now unfortunately Iwasaki's only come in 6500K that I'm aware of. All other lamps normally found in the hobby are MH and range from 5000K to 20 000K (industrial lamps are lower in K around 4000 and considered not suitable).HTH.

what Kenzy said is right on the money.. they apear more blue if you run them on a MV ballast and have a better light out put..
