bio beads/chips

i have a fluval filter that holds carbon and bio beads my question is do i really need to replace the bio can i just rinse it out or soak in vinager!
i know with the carbon it holds 2 packets but i just put one in because i think there trying to get you to use more to sell more

All I have ever done is rinsed the bio beads! My mom has used Fluvals for years and all she ever does is rinse them as well and she has never had any problems. HTH
