Hey everybody...nice board. Seems like a nice community you guys have here. I've got a few newbie questions for ya. First of all, I'm setting up a 75 gal FOWLR tank.

1. I'm looking for a budget protein skimmer. I know it's better to get an expensive one upfront to avoid upgrading later, but I don't have the cash for that, and don't have the patience to wait until I have the cash :D Can anyone recommend a protein skimmer for me? Initially I was planning on spending only $100 but it seems like I'll need to spend $150 to get anything decent. Also, where is the cheapest place to buy the skimmer (if you're permitted to past that here...not sure).

2. In looking for live rock, the best deal I've found so far is 45pnds for $165 shipping included. It's from ffexpress (mods - please edit if I am not permitted to mention retailers). Anyone have experience with their rock? Is it any good? I also was looking at Aquacon...how are they? They seem a little more expensive. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Keep an eye on this board for used skimmers. For that money, used might be the way to go so you get something that works. Watch eBay also.

First of all welcome to the board. I notice that you are from the USA so you may want to try reefcentral.com or reefs.org to located a used skimmer. Getting things across the boarder maybe a pain. Also check into local reef clubs, they may have some members who have recently upgraded. I hope you find what you are looking for. A good skimmer will save you lots of grief. You may want to consider adding a refugium then the skimmer will not need to be as big
