just wondering what is the best book to buy..price is ont an option as im assuming none of these should cost much more than a university textbook...anyhow..so far i have seen The Reef Aquarium by julian sprung and The Modern Reef Aquarium....are these any good? so far i have been reading the following...

THe salt water aquarium by Robert P.L Straughan 1976

Coral Fishes T.Ravensdale 1968

lots of good info in these....as well it shows a simplified way to make a protein skimmer...that is prior to the name protein skimmer being used...its called either an ozone reactor or an airstripper.....

not sure how long you have been at it but,
Natural Reef Aquariums
"Simplified Approaches to Creating Living Saltwater Microcosms"
by John H. Tullock
this may not be the ultimate but a good read with lots of info,
note: stick with current books alot has changed since the 70`s

Aquarium Corals: Selection, Husbandry and Natural History by Eric H. Borneman, The Modern Coral Reef Aquarium by Svein A. Fossa and Alf Jacob Nilsen and Marine Fishes: 500 Essential-To-Know Aquarium Species by Scott W. Michael are three books than should get you through just about anything.
