Hey guy's
I was wondering if any one could offer any sugg. on reataching glass baffles to the tank with out having to drain the watter in my sump?My "QUALITY" Miracles sump jst decided I didn't need the baffles any more and let them go on their merry way!
Good new is I found the surce of my micro bubble problem.Bad news is I cant think of way to fix it with out draining my water.
What about the epoxy that we use to bond our corals to rocks, would that work?
Need some help with this one.

Pretty much the only thing I know that will bond glass to glass is silicone. I doubt the epoxy would work as I'm not sure it will stick to glass. It must stick to at least one surface to work. Silicone needs to cure and I'm sure the curing process is not good for your fish and corals. An alternative could be to find a way to prop up the baffle. I know, silicone one or more pieces of glass to the baffle to act as legs, and then drop it in the sump after it has cured. Essentially it would look like either a "T", a "+" or even an "H". That should work.

Silicone is your best solution, but....
Make sure you really look at the label on the tube and buy only silicone that is labeled "Safe for Aquarium use"!!!!
Not all silicone is aquarium safe, so be careful. Also you will have to drain the water, as the silicone has to cure (dry) for at least 24 hours (preferably 48 hours) . And make sure both surfaces are clean and dry before applying.
And get clear silicone, as I'm not sure if any of the white stuff is aquarium safe? (Plus it's messy and looks bad)
I had a seal bust on my tank (read: water everywhere) and had to do the silicone thing to repair it. Works like a charm though.

Silicone does not need to say "safe fopr aquariums" on it. In fact i would be surprised if you could find any that does unless you pay big bucks at the pet store. You will be fine to buy clear silicone at home depot. The only 2 things.
1.) It needs to be 100% silicone
2.) It can't have any additives to prevent fungus, or mildew etc. Reed the list of ingredients, It should say silcione. Some will list a few things that make the silicon instead. Just stay away from the ingredients that end in "cide"

Home Depot carries GE silicon that has "safe for aquariums" on the tube.

Thanks Troy and AJ, that is exactly the stuff I use. Also purchased at Home Depot. Less than $3 a tube if I remember correctly.
The reasons that Scott mentioned are why you need to look for "Safe for Aquariums" on the label, because you don't want the additives or mildew preventers in it. But unlike what Scott mentioned you really do need to look for the "Safe for Aquariums" to be sure as not all 100% clear silicones will be safe.

Canadian Tire also carries "aquarium safe silicone". It's in a green tube in the caulking section. It comes in a larger caulking tube and is also about $3.FWIW.
