Thanks to Mitch I am now setting up a new Seahorse tank in my family room. This setup will be a little different as the new tank will be plumbed to an existing 180 in the basement, both tanks will share the same sump.
The first task was setting up the corner tank and cutting a bulkhead in the floor, luckily my basement is not completely finished so hiding the plumbing should be easy.

Last week I set up the corner tank, this weekend I finished the plumbing and started the flow. Its plumbed to a sump in the basement, it actually drains into a refugium. Seahorses don't like much current so the turnover per hour of this tank is approx 1 1/2 times, the overflow rate is perfect for the refugium.
So far everything is working as planned, the only fear is that the water temp in the corner tank will be higher than 75 degrees, 75 is about the max for the horses soI will have to keep a close eye on the water temp.......a chiller may be the next project :)

75??? I've kept them from 72 to 80 with no problems. My seahorse aquarium is in the basement so keeping it cool is no problem. I've had to add a heater to keep it at 72 but I've experimented with higher temps and now keep it at 76 to 77. They seem really adaptable. More important is food, try lots of live rock and "time" to seed the environment with pods. The tank raised ones are the way to go, I've got some wild ones and they are a pain, DON'T feed them guppies, I've lost one because of it. Ghost shrimp is their favorite, and eventually ween them to the frozen Mysis. Good luck, seahorse's are amazing.

I am thinking Ocean Images has Aussie s/horses which require a lower temp.

Bri-Fli, you are correct the seahorses are from Australia (pot Bellies) The last tank they were in was 68 - 70 degrees at all times. I am pretty sure I have the cooling system dialed in now, I am going to watch it closely to make sure its reliable.

O.I.
I have O.R. Mustangs and H.Barbouris.
The Bars I got from Seanic. Would like to have Pots but will wait until I can figure out the cooling.. The Pots are awesome looking.

I "had" pot bellies as well, they didn't seem to mind the 72 to 74 range at all, I didn't notice any difference from 70. Now Aaron from the sea horse list is the expert. I'm sure he could be much more informative due to his longer experience with all types of ponies.
