Hi everyone,
First off congrats to AJ and REEFIN GEEK on the new board like the look and I am looking forward to using the board to help me out with a few ques.
I am setting up a new reef tank I have about 5yrs exp.and own a 55gal right now
I am thinking 125 short 48"x24"x24"or 180gal 72x24x24 for SPS LPS
I am going to do this right the first time so 4-6" DSB home depot I have about a 1000+lbs so I should be ok :)
MH,VHO,sump,good quality skimmer, and reactor
So to my dilemma
125short or 180gal
This system is a ground up project so all I have right now is the sand
Oh yes and I do realize how much I will be on the hook for :eek2: I would have done it last year but the pool/patio went in instead it was a hard sell to talk the wife into the tank once she had the pool in mind no Hun the tank would be better really, come on kids don't cry,see what I mean
One last thing when is Aquarium Pros.Ca going online?
Houston we have lift off
I would like to by local and save the west coast shipping no offense to my buds on the coast but the shipping is a killer.
Cheers:)

...I'd like to http://www.aquariumpros.ca/images/welcome.gif reefnut to the forum!!! Thanks for the nice words :D !!!
We should be online ASAP...though I am just working out a licensing delay with my hosting company. The situation is the hosting company that I'm dealing with are VERY good so I don't want to switch...but they are having an issue with their MIVA Merchant licensing...so I cannot do anything until this issue gets worked out! :( So until I get the go-ahead that all is working on their end...I'm forced to deal person-to-person (not that I think that this is a bad thing as I get to deal directly with our customers this way!!!).
Anything you are looking for...all you have to do is let me know and I will work out the pricing for you. I was hoping that all would have been resolved by now...but I guess it's not. I will give them a bit longer to get things straightened out...and if no fix is done...I will switch to another hosting company (these guys are giving me a very sweet deal and helping to cut our costs to host...so I would like to try to work things through with them).
I hope that you can bare with us through this hectic set-up period...as I can assure you that it will be worth it in the end.
As for the tank question...I would suggest you go as big as you can afford. If you get the 125GAL...you'll want the 180GAL...and even if you get the 180GAL...you'll still think about that 200GAL + tank that would be soooooo nice! :D I think that this is just part of being addicted!
Again I welcome you and all our other NEW users to the forum...and look forward to chatting with you all!

hey i am sure you are aware of the two stores in London that have salt water...or at least they are the two that i know of...
big Als...and incredible aquarium... and then i guess you have to jump in the car after that.... if i was you..i would be going to detroit as much as i could.. i am sure there are lots there..i have heard of one place.. tropicquarium.. but never been ... but hear it is great...but then you have to deal with Bush's men at the border...so maybe not a great deal...
as well if you ever feel like going for a drive.. there is a new club started in Kitchener.. called MASK.... and it may offer some ideas... sort of far to drive to hear someone spout off..but just a suggestion.. they have a web site.. and i think there is a link from it from our club..MAST....... www.mastcanada.org....
so check that out if it is of interest...
well good luck reefing.. and if there is anything i can help you with drop me an e mail...

Thanks for the kind words, I must correct you though as I do not want to take credit for something I didn't do.
I am just a moderator on the board. The two guys that should be getting the credit are the owners, AJ and Dr. Frank.
As for your tank, if your wanting to do it right the first time get the 180 :D :D
Check out Mitch's tanks that AJ will be supplying. Top notch:thumbsup:
Anyway looking forward to your ?? and input and once again thumbs up to those who deserve it
AJ and Dr. Frank:thumbsup:

Hi guys thanks for the replys
AJ
125--180---200 I hear ya brother :)
lookin forward to the shopping online to be complete,I will send a list when I have one put together :)
Canuck,
I tried the link but nadda prob the laptop I am using.
Big als yup got one here, yup just down the road probably buy the tank from their, seeing all the trouble people seem to be having with Mitch at IA
Big als is ok for some stuff but they don't carry the line of skimmers, reactors and MH I am looking for and they have a tendecy to lead people astray or charge them mega bucks for what they do get and any Acro coral frags are well.. not their
hmmm get a big tank.... then frag... then sell them to big als for all of the coin they have taken me for Hmmmm
Trade with Aquarium pros members though
REEFIN GEEK oops thought you were a part owner well DR Frank
 180 ya thats what I was thinkin to. I like the idea of havin the space.
Thanks to Canadawest,
for posting the link on his website to aquarium pros.ca. I am typing this out on a seriuosly out dated lap top via a 56k modem, lousy connection lost the conn a few times already.
Thanks for the welcome, posting more ques soon

Reefnut,
No disrespect to Big Al's (Note to AJ to find a smilie that conveys sarcasm) I'm sure that the money you would save buying a tank from AJ, including shipping, would more than make up for a trip to the city with a rental and a few buds and some beer and salt and LR and food and gas and and and and..Know what I mean?
Seriously what do they want for a 200 gallon tank these days? A grand? Puhleeze..

Hi D Man,
LOL you may have something there a few BUDS hahah more than a few it is along way and beer what were we going to pick up again?
AJ is probably looking for a tank maker as we speak Lord knows there would be money to be made with Bigals as the only real competition.
I was thinking of IA but they are risky to say the least.
Note Venting comin up
I feel for you guys you put a certain trust in people and what they guarantee and don't see it coming when they blind side you not good business or PR when your rep is what people hear about. Mitch wake up and smell the coffee on.
At least get a computer !!!
Ya I think your Grand estimate for the 200 is prob not far off with tax and all.

Wohooo... A hit on my website!!
Just kidding, but of course I'm glad to have help guide you here.
As for the tank dillema, yeah I agree with the others. Go as big as you can afford, as you'll only wish you could have bigger once you've had it set up for a while.
The difference in equipment is minor between a 125 and a 180 as far as lighting goes, and sounds like you'll be putting on a good skimmer anyway which would be at home on either tank. The only reason I see to go with the 125 is if you are not thinking of keeping any tangs, wrasses or other large fish that like the swimming room that a 6' tank offers. But the downside of a 4' tank is that it's hard to get cheap lighting as 48" VHO tube wont fit (and they are usually the cheapest being a standard size)
Ahhh, what am I even debating for??? Forget the 125... Go for the 180!;)
