With more light, you can see the dirt in the tank better. Whitish cloudy or greenish cloudy? If its whitish cloudy its either fine misty bubbles from your skimmer, (try blocking the air intake and see if it clears fast) or your sand hasnt settled(wait).
How old is your tank?
I've never seen white hair algea. But I've seen some slimey white encrusting sponge. ?

Budmiller,
Could also be bacterial, but that's a long shot. How turbid is your water?

I haven't had fresh for a long time, but I'm pretty sure you can get bacterial in both. Once again a long shot, but the possibility does exist.
Budmiller, if you take a really close look at the cloudiness, does it look particulate? Like something is floating in the water column, if not then it could be bacterial and you could try an antibiotic like Tetracycline.

Yes there are particles floating around and they are white. A guy at Big Als said it was probably from the drift wood i had. So he told me to try Myacin capsuls. It looks like it's clearing up a bit. So hopefully it works. And thanks for your help guys.

if you see any slimy-white fungal-type stuff on your driftwood, it's common. especially on knot wood & mopani
any basic bacterial/fungal medicine should clear it up in a few days... as for the white/unclear water, how long has the tank been set up? in new tanks, usually just a common bacterial bloom. if you have fish cut down on the feeding and it will usually go away in a week or so
try not to resort to chemicals

I had a cloudy water problem and Big Als told me about a product
called PRO CLEAR..... Man...does the stuff ever work!!!!!
Use exactly to directions my water was crystal clear in about 10 hours!!! amaaaazing!~ but....you need to vacuum the gravel
afterwards so it is not something I intend on using constantly but it cleared up a problem short term.....
Dont know if this would help your situation but my tank went from cloudy (and would not clear not matter what) to EXTRA CLEAR in 10 hours!!!! I was blown away with the results....
Good luck
:D
