Hi all just wondering if anyone can give me some info on a Butterfly fish?I happened to call the LFS,to see what they had in new for fish,and they said they had a butterfly,(never said what kind)If i buy this fish it would be going into a 75 gallon,with a small yellow tang,and a coral beauty,and a saddle back clown.This tank is FOWLR.There is roughly 100#'s of live rock.

Pluff,
if she's going into a FOWLR then no problem. May have to fight off the Tang and Clown for the first week or so. Just make sure the BF is eating before you buy, not just tasting the food and spitting it back out.

Most buterfly are not reef safe so be carefull!

Copperbaded is reef safe but is tricky to lean him to feed I do it with mysis It is the only food that will get him to eat at first. if your able to train it to eat misis then you will be able to keep it no problem
and even train it to eat mostly anyting mine even eat flake food

Rare are the LFS that will take the time and the right food to train a buterfly to feed so maybe you will have to do it at home
or pass on this fish. As long as he have not been in the LFS for to long not eating you will be able to train him

Or at least buy it but ask you LFS to feed him severale time a day with mysis. Most LFS don't even know wath is right for them

pluff, if you can find out what butterfly it is we could probably give you a yea or nay. most butterflies arent even worth trying as they live very shortened lives in captivity. there is no such thing as a "hardy" butterfly at all... please find out what it is before purchasing

Ok guys i found out what kind of Butterfly it was.Its a Lemon butterfly.Any Info would be great?

Thanks for the site.I just read up on it.I will check the fish out tomorrow.As me being a gambler,;) I will prolly take the chance and buy it,as long as its eating when i go to the LFS.
