I'm looking to buy a few books for my G/F on reefkeeping. Other than The Conscientious Marine Aquarist... what are other good references?
Thanks in advance.

I found The New Marine Aquarium:Step by Step Setup and Stocking Guide by Michael S. Paletta to be quite informative though not as in depth as the one you mentioned.

Slightly off topic...
Does anyone know where in TO I can take a look before picking up
The Modern Coral Reef Aquarium vol. 1, 2, 3 & 4....well maybe not Vol 1......right now I really want to check out Vol 4.
Corals of the World
Algae a new book by Sprung
Not all at one shot of course....in fact the MCRA will be one at a time.....since they are all pretty $$$ except Sprung.......
Amazon ca and Chapters ca do not appear to carry them....
The LFS do not have them...I actually asked a LFS in Scar to bring MCRA Vol 2 in...but it has been 1 month....looks like I need to harass them again....

I have a copy of TMCRA volume 4. Unfortunately, I live close to Barrie so not much help. If you're ever in the area though stop in and check it out. It covers mollusks, nudibrachs, bryozoans and echinoderms such as serpent and brittlestars, sea stars, basketstars, urchins, cucumbers as well as tunicates etc. As with the others in the series, loaded with information and gorgeous pictures. Very in depth treatment of each topic. I enjoy the book alot because it deals with alot of the creatures I enjoy the most i.e, not just corals. It makes one realize that out tanks are still a far cry from living coral reefs in that the live rock in our tanks is virtually sterile in comparison to the encrusting lifeforms found in the wild. Maybe that will change in the future though. However, I would definately recommend you look at this book in person first because it is not cheap and second, it will not appeal to everyone. I have'nt seen it in any shops and ordered my copy through Dan at MOPS. Hope this helps.
