I named it Lotto, just 'cause if I'm ever that lucky I'll have won the lottery.
Quick background first.
Lotto was born 49 days ago and up until this point was one of only 4 of about 390 that had survived this long.
Sunday January 12th saw a bunch of us drive down to Rochester for a URS meeting. When I returned 2&1/2 hrs later than expected I found the floating hatchery lying on the bottom of the 30 gallon tank I had placed the surviving 4 clowns in.
Noticing the four of them swimming around happily in the newly unrestriced confines of their new home I dragged my tired, sorry behind to bed.
When I arrived home from work this evening, only one could be seen swimming around. A frantic search turned up nothing so I proceeded to shut the whole system down (200 gallon display upstairs, a 65, two 30's, a presump, a settling sump and an extremely turbid post/dosing sump all running off a 1/2hp Iwaki, pressure rated at 3400-3600GPM at 15'' head)
Swimming for all he was worth was one clown in the post sump, the water in the post sump is only about 4 inches deep and feeds directly into the main pump.
No fish in the settling sump ( 50 gallon rubbermaid container) which was where I was hoping to find the errant clowns as the two 30 gallon tanks drain directly into the settling sump.
Oh well, no fish, sucks to be me :<
After dinner I was going to clean the glass on the 200 gallon main display tank when low and behold, there he was. A little frantic as the water up there is pretty busy, but alive none the less. He had lived after being pumped up from the basement through a monster pump that surely should have crushed or shredded him.
Bragging rights, I give you Lotto the Clown
