I'd like to try my hand at building a DIY skimmer. I have a 36" length of 4.5" acrylic tubing left over from the kalkwasser reactor I built

Mugster... where did you get your hands on that acrylic tubing... and if you don't mind... how much did it cost? I've also been thinking of building my own skimmer design.
Thanks in advance.

I purchased Methylene Cloride from a little fiberglass shop in Toronto. It was about 15$ for ~ liter. You can dissolve a little acrylic in it to make it thicker. I couldn't find any weldon here, home depot and the like had no idea what I was talking about.
If you can't find anything suitable I could pick some up if we could figure out a way to get it out to you.

BTW the place is located near the corner of Islington and Queensway. I forget the name.

Fishlips,
If you had have gone a little farther up Islington, JJ Downs on Bering Ave has weld-on. I'm at work now, but when I get home I can dig out contact information as they take VISA over the phone and will ship to just about anywhere.

Thanks, that would be good to keep on file for other adhesives.
However I've got enough solvent to last me a couple years.
Isn't weldon 16 just thickened Methylene Chloride?
Does JJ Downs sell acrylic?

I bought the acrylic tube from a plastics supply company in Cambridge. I can't recall the name of the place off-hand, but I'll try to find the name if you would like. I had to buy it in a 6 foot length, at an approx. cost of $85 incl. tax. HTH.
