View Full Version : 100 gal sump questions?

I've decided to keep the 100 gal(60x18x24) I was trying to sell and use it as a sump for my 180, replacing the 55 gal I'm using now. I have a couple of questions to ask.

Firstly, what thickness of glass should I use for the partitions so they won't bow and is there any special kind of glass to ask for? Or should I just use plexiglass?

I'm planning on setting up the 100 gal and do all of the plumbing before making the switch-over from the 55 gal. With that in mind, should I gradually add water from the system while making up the extra volume of water with RODI, rather than just filling the 100 gal with fresh SW(mixed and aerated) and switching over?

Also, if anyone has any ideas on how to utilize the space provided by the 100 gal, please feel free to post them.

Any help appreciated,
Kev
