How long does the Aquasafe RO/DI units last in terms of water filtered?

How many gallons total till their dirty?

That's a hard question to answer. It all depends on the source water. If the source water is high in TDS (total disolved solids), chlorine or chloramine, etc. then your prefilters are going to be spent much sooner than if the source water is relatively clean.

The water in my area is extremely hard and high in TDS. I have to change out my sediment cartridge once a month. I had clear housings on my AquaFX unit and I could watch the sediment filter getting dirtier each time I made water.

I cant answer that question because I dont know what type of filters are in use in that system.

Is there anyone out there that has som history with this system.

Please keep in mind though that the filter life of someone elses system may not be the same as yours depending on what is in your water.

Here is another unit I found......125GPD

Do I need a tank if it is only used for aquarium? Where do I install it, under the tank?

With 3.2 gallon tank

The $59 isn't aquasafe.....their systems usually go for ~$100 without pumps / reservoirs....

I believe their systems are sediment, Coconut Carban, GAC, RO, and Colour Changing DI Resin.

Yeah, the Aquasafe was $119 with a tank.

Is it possible to hook this up so that I can just turn it on and the water flows into the tank? Maybe do the automatic top off system? Do I need to add chemicals to the water Before it gets in the tank?

Here is another cheap system.....

Oh Man!!! Don't buy from anyone who will ship your order across the border using UPS.... those schisters charge OUTRAGEOUS "brokerage" charges that adds like $60 to your order, payable on receipt...... I seriously kid you not....
UPS is the ONLY carrier to rip it's customers off like that.... not Fed Ex, not Puro.... not anyone.....only the schisters of UPS.

I'm in the U.S. so shipping was $20 dollars........

I have pretty good luck with UPS.....BUT....The postal system sucks!!!
I mailed a small package to a guy in Canada, not sure where it was, but it took like 3 weeks to get to him!!! He thought I ripped him off....

When you buy your salt buy the salt in the buckets. Then use the old bucks for mixing salt, and for you ro/di unit! Well i bought a 5 gallon water bottle that they use on water despences at work. But then i put it in the buckets to mix it.

I will actually build you a system for exactly what you want.

I will have you built a 100 gpd system with auto shut off installed and I will throw in a float valve and 50 feet of tubing. 99.00

If I have to put the float in the tank, do they make a black one?

Can I put it in the reservoir?

H20_Science

The only thing that you cant see in the picture is the ASO unit that will be installed behind the membrane and the membrane will be clear as well

H20_Science
August 10th, 2005, 02:30 PM
you would be better off putting the float in the reservoir

Hi Bryan,
I notice that the canisters are clear, does this not promote growth of stuff that you really don't want?

H20_Science
August 10th, 2005, 03:35 PM
It could if you were using your system outside in direct sunlight. In apps like these where the system would be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time we do implement non clear housings. In aquaria it is prefered to monitor the filters so the clear housings are well suited for this use. I cant say Ive ever seen a system have any microbiological growth inside unless it was stored for long periods of time without use. This tends to be a problem in stagnant bodies of water not one such as this where the water is continuously moving.

Good question though!
Bryan
