Anyone has ordered livestock from J&L? would you recommend it?

I'm thinking about ordering some fish from them. For price, it'll end up be around the same as buying in store, since J&L price is lower and no PST, but need $45.5 shipping. But the main reason is I just can't get fish I want in store! There'r always these posts about "big" shippments etc, but I only go out to Toronto every 2-3 weeks and evertime I checked out the stores in GTA there'd be nothing left I want... so kinda desparate here :)

Have you tried placing an order with the LFS's for the specific fish you want? That way when the "big orders" arrive the fish you desire will be reserved for your arrival. Plus when you order from JL I believe you have to pick up your order at the airport. Correct me if I'm wrong here folks.

LFS won't work for me :) There were 2 LFS (unless you count Petcetera, then 3). Both have expensive price. One has a little healthier fish but selection is very limited and also more expensive ($35-39 for a clown)... and most importantly it's just been burned down :O The other one has bit more selection but I'm abit worry about the health, and price... $37 for a cleaner shrimp (which I would want 2 if order from J&L).

So yeah may give mail order a try. Been looking at the GTA stores quite a few times the last couple months, but you see, the gas money I spent going around to the GTA stores is probably enough to pay for shipping from J&L already lol :D

I was going to order livestock from J&L. when I shopped around, I found that I could get the same deal ordering from one of AP's sponsors. The price of the fish was more expensive, but taking into account the shipping the total price came to the same thing. I ordered from ORG in Oakville.

The ship overnight and you gotta pick up your order at the airport.... unless you're putting in a large order, it's not really worth it... A) for the hassle and B)the cost of shipping.

I LOVE JL's , have got $300 worth of inverts, coral and fish from them so far with no prob's. Their service is great but if I'm looking for a single fish I support the local non-chain stores.
Mibaro has a good point, Just ask your local non-chain store if he can order it in on the next shipment. They are alot more accomodating than petcettera :shiver:
