After much procrastination, I finally got around to putting up some pics of the Australian Pot-bellied seahorses I purchased from Aaron @ Seanic Aquarium.
These have to be the most fascinating creatures I've kept and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants some diversity in the inhabitants they keep. They're graceful swimmers, very docile, and somewhat curious at times.
Have a look. http://members.rogers.com/itsmemug

Kev.
Cool looking creatures. Someday I would like to setup a seahorse tank.

IJO, I have 3 at the present time. All males. I started out with 2 females and 2 males, but unfortunately I made the mistake of adding some Green Chromiis(without taking the time to quarrantine them) I bought at the LFS to add some colour. Well it turned out the Chromiis had some sort of fungal infection which I didn't notice in time and it spread to the seahorses. After removing the fish I treated the tank but unfortunately I was only able to save the largest male. After a period of isolation and TLC, I was able to nurse the surviving male back to good health. I've since added 2 more males and everyone is doing just fine, including me...lol. I added a Cleaner Shrimp to help remove any unwanted parasites. At first the seahorses shyed away from the shrimp but lately I've seen the shrimp "feeling" them.
The tank is a 40 gal tall Eclipse with the biowheel removed. I use a standard filter cartridge and LR for the filtration. I have approx. 2-3" of aragonite for the substrate and a couple of silk plants and mushrooms for colour. Lighting is supplied by the standard Eclipse dual NOs, one 10k and one actinic.
I'm presently experimenting with different colours in the tank to see which colour the seahorses adopt the best. If you look closely at them now they have taken on a touch of red in their "head feathers", and along their backs.
HTH,
Kev

Hey Kev,
The seahorses look great. Thanks for the update.
