Anyone have any good ideas to house 2 small mantis shrimp? I currently have one which live in a small 2 1/2 gal tank, and now another one currently floating. They are both fairly small (2 inches and 3/4inch) and I would like to put them in a divided tank or something. What would be a good tank size, will they fight through a clear (glass or clear acrylic) barrier? Will they kill each other if there is now barrier? They both appear to be smashers, other that that all I know is that one came from 'cuba' live rock... the other was just discovered after adding some florida rock, but not IN the florida rock, in an OLD rock.
Any suggestions?

I believe mantis shrimps are cannabalistic, so the bigger one would probably finish off the smaller one (unless you lucked out and got a male and female and they "hit it off").

Personally, I'd be afraid to put 2 mantis shrimp together with a glass divider. Although they are probably too small to do any damage yet, they could eventually smash the glass. Acrylic would probably be better. But even then, I think you may end up stressing the 2 shrimp out if you have them together divided by glass/acrylic. They would be constantly looking at each other, wanting to get at each other, and unable to. I'm not sure if this would be the healthiest environment for them.

I would keep them in completely separate, acrylic tanks.

Just my .02 FWIW.
