Seeing as though my 50 gallon pentagon doesn't seem to want to sell, I am considering setting it up as a seahorse tank.

What will I need in terms of lighting and filtration? Should I utilize the overflow or should I glass it over and use a cannister filter?

What sort of corals can be housed in the tank? Are shrooms fine?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hey Mitch,
That would be a great seahorse tank. If it is drilled you might as well use the overflow and sump. If you prefer a cannister filter that works too. I have 3 seahorses in a 10 gallon tank with a small hagen aquaclear filter and live rock. They aren't that fussy if you can do the odd water change. Depending on the horses you choose and tank temp. You can do macro algaes, or mushrooms are fine. Brains and star polyps as well. The coral don't like real real strong light, so you need to pick based on that. NO BIG softies though. The same thing they use to wipe out hard corals, wipes out seahorses. Anything else just fire away.
