rotifers???

are all the little white specks in my rotifer tank rotifers? when i shine a flashlight into the side of the rotifer tank i see alot of little white specks some seem to be swimming some just seem to be floating throughout the water i'm new at culturing and don't have a microscope ( local stores say they only sell at Christmas time) I just wondered if there is a trick to know what they look like. My little white specks are the size of a small grain of sand some even smaller the water is of pretty good quality,greenish tinted after adding greenwater yellowish by the next morning then I add more greenwater to tint it green again.

The white specks your talking about are indeed rotifers.
Try looking at them through a magnified glass.

Sounds like you're on the right track. Although a magnifying glass may not help, perhaps someone in you area might have one that you could use.
