Hello, well here's my question? I'm in the process of setting up a new 70gl tank(will be a Reef tank) I Have a 20gl now with LR(20lbs) and 3 pieces of soft coral and a couple of feather dusters. The fish in the tank have ICH. I've been treating with a so-called Reefsafe product for 2 wks now but it has done nothing!!!! ...
My whole plan is to turn the 20gl into a QT but I think I'm running out of time. I have 2 percula clowns and a coral beauty who are really starting to stress out and are covered with ICH!!!! When the 70gl tank is up and running(hopefully tomorrow night) I was going to transfer my coral and LR. I don't want to kill it with copper med. Once I transfer it then I will treat the fish.
Sorry to ramble,,,,, so what I'm asking is if I give them a FW dip now will it help by killing the Parasites on them and hopefully they will LIVE until I can treat them tomorrow or the next? Or should I leave them alone and hope for the best until I treat them in the new QT?
Thanks
Aaron

I don't think that one day is going to make a real difference compared to the addittional stress a dip will add. If they are still eating and are not gasping for breath I would let it be until u can move out LR and corals. BTW I too found that kick ick does not work...u may also want to try kyolic liquid garlic on the food and selcon as well, seemed to help my ick problem.

Do you have a cleaner wrasse or shrimp? They might help, although it maybe a little/slow for your situation. Other than that, sounds like your plan is the way to go.

I did decide not to do the FW dip. When I fed them this evening they all ate and they are swimming around and seem to be breathing ok. The bigger Percula clown has gone into hiding though, which worries me but like I said he did come out to eat. I will just hope for the best.

One guy at my LFS told me that kick ick is just water in a bottle:liao: . I believe him. (the same LFS sold me the stuff a day or so early and it was a different salesperson) I guess some are honest and some just want to sell you anything!!
The liquid garlic? is that something you use on a regular basis or just in a QT or what?
With regards to the shrimp..yeah I did have 2 cleaner shrimp at first(I liked them alot) but after going away for a week and leaving feeding instructions to my brother-inlaw I came back to brown water and 2 dead shrimp!!!!!!:rocket:
I guess he can't read.... So I replaced them with 2 coral-banded shrimp....Mistake... They look cool but they are really aggressive shrimp! I've read they can kill fish! I believe it because I lost a fire goby, who somehow had his dorsal fin sniped off at night, then died 2 days later!! I wonder who. These demons are going back and I will get cleaner shrimp once again!!:bananas:
Thanks for taking the time to read and reply!!!!

Well actually the only reason I dealt with this LFS was because the one I deal with since I started with SW was closed because he was moving and expanding. I had to wait until he was open again. He is opening this Sat. Apr. 23. But I kept going to his new store wanting to buy from him(for my new tank setup)but finally today he had his computer system for paying up and running:)

I was his first new store paying customer!!!!! He good because he's honest and also undercuts everybody by at least 15%. I bought a lighting system and protein skimmer and heater and substrate and mech filter system off him+ a couple of little things too. I totally saved money rather than going to lets say................I'm not sure if I'm suppose to say this but BIG AL'S................Big ALs's is the biggest rippoff ever!! I saw a small "spongebob tank"(for kids maybe 1 gallon at Big Als selling for 49.99 and then saw it at Superpet for 19.99.........OH my god what a mark up!!!!!!!
That's not my first beef with Big Als.....
Oh yes Super Pet is not where I go for my stuff>>>

just visited the website prices look to be at least + 15% more than everyone else. $45 for a blood shrimp I think big als is cheaper.

I think you will save $$$ if you visit some of the sponsers here. Good prices and they know the hobby!

good luck

I'm always shopping around looking deals but I went to his store with a list of what I needed and what they were charging for the same stuff at BA's and he undercut everything by 15%. That's all I can say.
Last time I check BA's was selling Blood shrimp for 49.99! at least...

Oh well, The clowns both died overnight. At least they went together. Just the one coral beauty left now.
