If you're thinking of mixing seahorses and other species of fish, be carefull. I tried and had a bad experience. I have a 40 gal tall Eclipse tank that I decided to setup as a seahorse tank. Based on the premise that SH's will change their colour depending on the colours available in the tank, I decided to add 3 Green Chromiis in with the 4 SH's (2 female, 2 male) as I despise plastic plants. All went well until the Green Chromiis developed a fungal infection more than likely caused by conditions at the LFS where I purchased them. The fish were removed but not soon enough.
The females were the first to get sick and died a few days later :(. Both Aaron and myself were unable to determine what they died from as there were no noticeable infections, legions, or mucuss buildup, although some "white specs" were barely noticeable. Water changes were made and Aaron provided me with some medication, which I can't recall the name of and maybe Aaron could reply with the name. The remaining 2 males were treated, followed by a second application as per the instructions. Both the males seemed to recover but then a week later one of them took a turn for the worse and died :(. The remaining male seems to have made a full recovery and is now doing fine :).
My point is, if you're considering mixing SH's with other fish, make sure everything is healthy and disease free as SH's seem rather vunerable to infection from my experience.
