Well I recieved the unit this morning.
Now the initial review

Shipping time- Shipped Monday, and if UPS hadn't have screwed up I would have recieved it Thursday.
4 days total start to finish

Initial responce upon opening the box- WOW

The unit is sturdy, very well put together and very tidy.
All hoses are neat and the fittings look to be top notch.

The supplied flush kit and faucet adapter are a great plus

Instrution sheets- Very thorough

Well tomorow I will be mounting this thing and then we can get to the real truth.

Water Quality

For now, here is a pic of it, out of the box

Looks like Dave has done a bit of re-engineering with the units. Mine is identical with the exception of a rather large pressure meter that clips on top of the RO unit.

I really like the smaller pressure gauge integrated into the unit. Only advantage I can see for my large top mounted gauge is that it would be much easier to read when mounted under the sink, as with the smaller side mounted one you would have to stick your head right under the sink to have a look.

I'm sure you'll be impressed with the unit, I know I am. I have to go pick up my replacement filter cartridges tomorrow. (They arrived last Friday, but I've been too busy to go get them)

How long do you find the filters last?

results are in for the water quality.

I measured the Total Disolved Solids of the water out of my tap, before going through the unit

Reading-154 ppm

After going through the unit

Reading- 1 ppm

Gee do ya figure Im happy

I found that my first set of pre-filters (sediment and carbon) only lasted about 2 months, but I figure that was due to the fact that I was using the garden hose adapter (Dave forgot the other adapters with my order). I didn't have an opportunity to run the line for a minute or so before passing the water through the unit, so I was likely getting a lot of stagnant line sediment in my unit. My carbon filter is so cloged that I barely get a trickle through the unit. This was after processing about 75 gallons of water. Definitely not normal. I'll see what kind of life I get out of my next set of pre-filters.

** Run your tap for a few seconds before using the RO/DI unit to purge any sediment from your line**

Dave sent out the other adapters and my TDS meter (which was also missing from the order) a little later, and now that I am using the faucet adapter (I'll install the in-line adapters soon) I figure I'll get longer life from the prefilters.

And Steve, yes you will almost certainly get a 0 reading with your source water only being 23ppm. My source water is only 17ppm and I get 0ppm after passing through the RO/DI unit.
