OK, I never expected this. The horses that fed so nicely in the store are now not feeding in my tank.
Two are taking frozen and the other two totally ignore it!
I have moved all 4 into a 2g show tank resting inside my 40. I am hoping than in more confined quarters the non-feeders will catch on by watching the other two.
Sent email to Reefcrew tonight to see if the have any mysid shrimp available.
Anybody have any other suggestions for me?
Fred.

While at seahorse.org another memebr had a similar problem. Overall people just think it is the stress of a new environment, and a few days your horses should start to feed again. go to www.seahorse.org to read about it. Cant remeber what category. Also if you haven't already signed up for it you should. Seahorse.org is a greyt place to learn new info!

Although Live Mysid would likly solve the problem of not eating you have to be carefull that you seperate the horses otherwise the ones that are taking frozen may stop eating as they will prefer the live food. Aaron from Seanic may have some ideas as well.

Scotty. That was me over at seahorse.org. Just collecting as much advice as possible.
Theshad. I hadn't thought about that. It may not be an issue though as I can't seem to find any live mysid. Sent email to reefcrew, but I havn't heard back yet.
Yvan. They seem to be behaving normally. Not having had horses before, I may not be the best judge, but the seem to have rapid eye movement, are swimming about normally and consumed the many pods in my 40 gallon right after I put them in.
They were eating frozen in the store last Thursday. The next day when I tried frozen they ignored it. I wasn't surprised because the tank had a good pod population. Now that I am at day 5 and only two of the 4 horses are taking any frozen, I am a little concerned.
Are there any stores in the Toronto area that carry live adult brine shrimp?
Fred.

Fred give me your tank conditions. It is almost impossible to diagnose over the net. Do they show interest in the food but then don't eat it. There is a very good chance they are sick. I need salinity, temp, nitrates, inhabitants, type of mysis, and general conditon of the horses. I hate seeing a seahorse not eat for more than a few days. I hate blaming it on stress. They were stressed going to the store yet they still ate, but now in your tank they won't and that tells me something is real wron somewhere.

Feed them anything they will eat at this point, even try some brine shrimp just to get them snicking again.

Aaron:
40g tank, salinity .024 temp 75 F, nitrates between 5 and 10ppm?? I got a seachem test and its really hard to read.
The horses are now in a 2 gallon show tank set up inside the 40. They are all active as far as I can tell. The largest is feeding OK, one showed interest but would not snick and two are just plain ignoring the frozen mysis.
For the first two days they cleaned out the entire 40 of a thriving pod population so they were feeding and moving about normally.
In the store they were eating SF brand frozen mysis, the same stuff I have.
I have 50 live mysis coming to BA kitchener tomorrow That should get them snicking again. Then I need to work on getting them back on to frozen.
Fred.
P.S. sent you a pm about the pe mysis

I got some pe mysis and what a difference. 3 of the 4 are now feeding properly. They took to it right away.
I have separated the one not taking to frozen so that I can feed it live (no problems with live mysis). Any suggestions on how I should try to get it back to frozen?
Fred.
