Hi,
I have a 10g nano with a lot of corals, LR Macro algea and a little percula clownfish, I'm wondering about putting a dwarf Seahorse in there. But I have a few concerns:
1. Will the Seahorse stay away from things that will sting him?
2. Will he hang off my montipora & SPS so much that they die?
3. I have a small powerhead in a 10 gallon, is that too much current?
4. Will Dwarf seahorses eat these frozen PE misis or do they need baby live?
Thanks for any help,
Chris

Hey Chris,
Seahorses hook onto anything and everything, and they do get stung. That is why anemones ect are a definite no no. The other thing is that they bother alot of coral, and can even strip gorgonians ect. Dwarf's will eat frozen food, but the availability of captive bred is very rare. If they are not captive they won't eat frozen. Baby brine are not nutrionally suficient to keep them for a period of time. The other problem is the Percula clown, in a 10 gallon tank he could be pretty aggressive. Seahorses have no defense mechanism.
Good luck and please only buy captive seahorses

Thanks for the bad news AAron!
but it's too bad, Sounds like seahorses wouldnt do too well in my tank!
So most people with seahorses Design their tanks around the seahorses I guess eh?
Maybe I'll get another nano for work someday, and keep them there.

Unfortunately, people buying seahorses rarely think at all. They buy wild caught animals, with no idea how to meet their specifac diets, resulting in death in about 4 weeks. There are over 20 million removed from the ocean each year. I hope to help you with your tank sometime, but am glad to see you are putting the project on hold until you have the right conditions.
Thanks
Aaron
