Greets again!

Slowing planning my salt water system.. looking at my 40 gal sump (glass aquarium) and wondering how I'm going to set it up with my skimmer.

What I'd like to do is let the over flow from the 135gal dump directly into the skimmer (but a T) to help split the flow into the skimmer + sump.

What I'm wondering.. is the turboflotor's got a "eww!!" rio 2500ss pump.

I've got a little giant + iwaki external pump that I'd rather use instead of the rio.

Would these pumps be too strong? Is there no point since all its made for is to create bubbles?

any infos would be appreciated!

regards,
jess.

You can get the TurboFlotor with the AquaMedic OceanRunner pumps instead of the Rio's - much better pump and performance. Since this skimmer works on a Needle-Wheel principal - you have to use a pump that will allow for the impeller to be replaced with the needle-wheel - either the Rio or the OceanRunner...unless you are going to mod your skimmer to use a becket intake.

Hey AJ,

thanks for the reply.. know how much those ocean runner's go for? I'm a bit worried about using the rio 2500.. and I'm also a bit worried about my turboflotor 1000 skimmer =( It's not in that good of shape. Also, having a hard time figuring out how to connect the skimmer + sump + refigum + overflow, etc to gether.. it'd be nice to have a good friend (close to home) to point things out! haha.

I'm alone on this one for now =]

What I should do is take pics of my equipement, and give you a buzz and we'll discuss my options! lol.

PS: what did you mean about modding the skimmer for the becket intake? can you give me some details on this?

What I plan is to get the tank drilled (yes).. (single or double outlet I'm not sure, neither on the size of the hole other).. T off the output, 1 into skimmer, 1 into sump, skimmer outputs into sump, iwaki or little giant to pump from sump -> output into tank.
